The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) aims to strengthen data protection for people within the EU. This regulation is overseen by the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission and went into effect on May 25, 2018. What steps has Devex taken to become GDPR compliant?

Our team at Devex spent many months reviewing and strengthening our data protection procedures to ensure we are compliant with GDPR. The following sections provide detailed answers on what information we collect, how it is used, how your data is protected, and what options you as a user have to remove your data should you wish to do so.

 

What information does Devex collect?

As a Devex member, your personal information is collected at the time of registration. This may include your name, e-mail address, postal address, phone number, and credit card information when you provide it to us. Your personal information is used exclusively for our communications with you as a Devex member. This includes delivering your newsletter subscriptions, publishing your candidate profile, if you have selected that profile be public, and providing you with content specific to your membership.

You can make changes to your account and privacy settings at any time by simply logging-in to Devex and visiting https://www.devex.com/account. This page can also be accessed from our main navigation after logging-in.

 

Does Devex share my personal data?

No. Devex does not share personal user information with any outside company, organization or group. However, we will share your information with third party platforms used by Devex to carry out our services. You can review the full list of third party platforms Devex uses below. What is our cookie policy?

We use ‘cookie’ technology to collect data regarding your visits to our website. This data is stored in aggregate form and is not used to identify any particular user or individual. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies in a variety of ways, including:

  • Keeping count of your return visits to our or our advertisers’ or partners’ websites
  • Accumulating and reporting aggregate, statistical information in connection with the Company
  • Determining which features users and registered users like best and
  • Saving your user identification or other information so you don’t have to re-enter it each time you visit the website.

What is our security policy?

Devex maintains appropriate measures to ensure that users’ personal details are not misused, accidentally destroyed, lost or altered within our server environment. We maintain reasonable standards of security and confidentiality. However, it is possible that third parties may unlawfully intercept or access transmissions or private communications over an unsecured transmission.

When you enter sensitive information (such as a credit card number) on our order forms, we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL).

We also limit access to the website by our own employees to those individuals who are authorized for the proper handling of such information and any employee found violating our standards of security and confidentiality will be subject to our disciplinary processes.



Opt-in and opt-out

Users who would rather not provide any of the user data requested at registration are not required to register with us. You can still view certain content and use certain services offered by our website without registering. We also give users the following options:

  • You may opt-in and out of our email subscriptions lists at any time by logging into Devex and visiting  https://www.devex.com/account. You can choose to unsubscribe from all Devex emails, including newsletters through this page.
  • You can also manage which newsletters you are subscribed to by visiting https://www.devex.com/account/newsletters. This page is also accessible by logging into your Devex account and clicking your profile icon in the top right of the page, or clicking the links in the footer of all Devex emails.
  • If you do not have a Devex account, you can still manage your email and newsletter preferences by visiting https://pages.devex.com/manage-email-preferences.html.
  • If you would like to make your Devex profile private, you may change your Privacy settings by visiting https://www.devex.com/account and selecting “No” next to the question, “Allow other users to see your profile?”. This will ensure your profile does not appear in candidate database searches.

 

Data Retention

We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services, please contact us at info@devex.com.  We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

 

How do I cancel my account?

If at any point you wish to cancel your Devex account, you can do so by visiting https://www.devex.com/account/billing. If you wish to delete your free Community Membership account, please contact our Member Services team at info@devex.com. A member of the team will be in touch to confirm your account cancellation.

 

How do I request for my data to be removed and deleted from all Devex systems?

If you wish to have all personal information removed from our internal and third-party systems, please contact info@devex.com. Our team has created a standard process for removing user data when requested and we will respond as soon as possible with confirmation that your details have been successfully removed from our systems. Please note, some information such as payment details may need to be retained for a certain amount of time for legal obligations. We will make sure to be transparent about what data we are able to remove entirely at the time of the request, and what data we must retain for legal purposes.
